Here you can find students&#8217; attempt to reflect on intercultural topics  such as intercultural dialogue, inclusion and tolerance which are essential to our future as knowledge professionals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Featuring Milena Liakopoulou&#8217;s<\/strong> feedback on<strong> <\/strong>Switzerland&#8217;s 2020 Congress titled <a href=\"http:\/\/sietar.ch\/events\/congress-2020-the-future-of-inclusion\/\">The future of Inclusion<\/a><strong>:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Importance of\nDiversity in the Field of Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Milia Eleni\nLiakopoulou, University of Patras<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SIETAR seminar introduced us to the world\nof intercultural education and gave us the opportunity to follow through the\npresentation of various speakers and speakers views.The main thread was to\nlearn about intercultural education and how it can be applied in the modern\neducational process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another point was to examine and have a more\ncomprehensive view of intercultural education and how each country implements\nand integrates interculturalism in the field of education and teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is therefore necessary to refer to the term\nintercultural education where it has historically appeared as a term in\nofficial Canadian politics since the 1960s and a little later. The term began\nto be used and discussed in practice when the United States was confronted with\na large percentage of non-speaking children, mostly Hispanic, in American\nschools and with the high rates of school failure and dropout presented by\nthese children (Androusou, 2000: 11).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main purpose of cultural education is to\nmodify the traditional curricula of teaching, so that there is now a connection\nbetween the courses and the culture of the students, whatever it may be. Its\nmain goal is to transform the school and the society, so that everyone has\nequal opportunities to express themselves as collective and individual\npersonalities. To be able to express their views freely regardless of the\ncultural context to which they belong and to have the support and cooperation.\nOf the state in the search for their identity of freedom and their\nself-realization (Mark 1997: 50).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>THE IMPORTANCE OF\nTEACHER TRAINING<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, it is worth mentioning the role that a\nteacher should have, who is called upon to implement and follow an alternative\ncurriculum, so that he can integrate as easily and effectively as possible\nchildren with different cultures, which makes the His role is particularly\ndemanding and difficult as he will have to design the way of teaching in such a\nway that he can give the required respect to diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Child,\nto have a democratic attitude and tolerance, to be fair and impartial, to have\npatience and conscientiousness, to have a multifaceted way of thinking not only\nlimited to the class and school hours but also beyond that, to be sensitive and\nto respect the personality of each child. \u00ce\u00a4o be next to the child when he \/ she needs it,\nto highlight the elements e those of every child that will help him in his\ndevelopment. These are some of the many qualifications that must have a teacher\nwho wants to deal with intercultural education (Kyriakopoulou, 2000: 18-19).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore we can find that the role of the\nteacher is crucial and very important as well as difficult to be able to\norganize a program that will highlight the special characteristics of all\nchildren in the educational process. For this reason it is worth referring to\nthe training that teachers will have to acquire in order to cope with the\nconditions of intercultural education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teacher training is a continuous and continuous\nprocess during their life as the developments in the field of education are\nmany and continuous and for this reason an effective teacher should expand his\nhorizons as much as possible, especially when he has to do with children who\nare from different cultures and should know some things about the historical\nbackground of each child, so that he can properly organize their educational\napproaches to the part of teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is noteworthy, therefore, to mention that\nnowadays distance education and training systems have been developed, thus\ngiving the opportunity to all teachers to learn without the need for physical\npresence in the classrooms (Matralis, 1999: 41). This innovative possibility by\nutilizing new methods of education, such as open and distance education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>THE USE OF NEW\nTECHNOLOGIES IN EDUCATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One last piece that I consider important to\nmention through the conference is the part of teaching methods that teachers\ncan use in the educational process so that they can function effectively in the\npart of diversity and cultural culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of these methods is teaching using new\ntechnologies. New technologies can support student-centered teaching as they\nhelp the teacher to individualize the teaching according to the needs of the\nchildren and their difficulties in specific areas of the lesson. This process,\nin addition to being more attractive and interesting than conventional books\nand learning materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Contributes\nto collaborative, experiential creative and exploratory learning, while\ncontributing to an environment of collaboration, communication, exchange of\nexperiences and feedback (Markou, C 1996).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through the use of new technologies, both\nteachers and students are cultivated, autonomy and skills such as cooperation,\ninitiative and self-confidence and social communication.&nbsp; In addition, people with mobility difficulties\nare facilitated in learning through the use of new technologies (Markou,C 1996).&nbsp; The teacher can through this practice create\nexercises for his students according to their needs and particularities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CONCLUSION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;In\nconclusion, this seminar gave me the opportunity to get to know better and more\nin depth the multiculturalism and how it is based in the field of\neducation.&nbsp; Diversity and otherness are\ntwo concepts that we often encounter in the field of education, which is why we\nas professional teachers must give the necessary attention as we are the\nconductors in promoting cultural diversity both among children and later in\nsociety. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>References<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dietrich, I.
